We are looking for a Technical Director with a solid formulation background (API and excipients) and a strong commercial acumen to advise our customers on their formulations, and to generate new business opportunities. You will be in the market, frequently visiting R&D teams of our customers to identify any technical challenges they may face in their new product development and help them moving forward. You take a consultative selling approach. You will be collaborating closely with the Sales Managers who manage the relationship with the customers. In the future we are planning to set up a Technical Centre of Excellence in the region, with a laboratory to conduct practical formulation experiments that support our customers in their development. We expect you to take a leadership role in setting up this Centre of Excellence.

Stakeholder management skills to build strong connections with Sales and the Technical teams.
Willing to travel (estimated 50%, depending on circumstances).
S./PhD in a related scientific field e.g. Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biology, Bio pharmacy.
Further business administration education a strong plus, e.g., MBA.
15 years technical experience in the pharmaceutical and/or excipient industry, preferably in formulation development of oral solid dosage and DPI.
Demonstrated business acumen – (Technical) Sales or Marketing experience is considered a strong plus.

Visit technical teams of our customers (e.g. R&D, Manufacturing, Quality) frequently and maintain close contact.
Advise customers on their technical challenges, related to formulation development, troubleshooting, processing, and regulations.
Drive business development in North America region, applying a consultative selling approach.
Facilitate technical seminars in-house at customers, as well as open seminars for multiple customers.
Signal unmet customer needs as input for new innovations.
Validation of new innovation ideas with customers.
Develop a compelling value proposition for the Centre of Excellence in North America and drive its implementation.
You will be part of a team of 2 Technical Managers/Director and 4 Sales Managers, reporting into the Regional Director North America.
You will continuously work in collaboration in particular with the Sales team in North America, and the corporate Innovation, Product Application and Regulatory Affairs teams based in Europe.

Proven track record of Self Starter communication with KOL’s (external, internal), Sales, and Marketing.
Can successfully present in industry leading forums and science congress.
Enjoys maintaining university relations (support on research projects and presentations as guest lecturer).
Acquainted with Matrix work environment, especially across cultures and internationally.
Reports directly to the Sales Director, North America.
3-5+ years of experience with Formulation and Material Science.
Demonstrated ability to develop strategic projects with strategic program execution and planning skills.
M.S (Master of Science) with 5-8 years of experience or with a PhD and 3-5 years in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Industrial Pharmacy, or Pharmaceutics.
