The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) School of Pharmacy is seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant/Associate Professor faculty position in Medicinal Chemistry. This is a full-time, 12-month, position and is located at the main MCW campus in Milwaukee, WI.
This position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to a new and innovative academic pharmacy program, one that envisions preparing the next generation of pharmacists to meet the growing healthcare needs of society. MCW’s PharmD graduates will have the knowledge and expertise to practice at the “top of their license” and contribute to patient-centered care within a team-based model ensuring optimal medication therapy outcomes in concert with other healthcare professionals. The School of Pharmacy intends to become a destination program for health sciences education and practice, by engaging students, practitioners, and researchers across the continuum of discovery to care, ensuring that graduates are “practice ready” and “team ready.”
This position provides unique and exciting opportunities to shape not only a new and innovative pharmacy program but to be immersed in vibrant academic health science campus that continues to advance its research mission. There are significant opportunities for advancing the research mission through several Departments, Centers and Institutes. Collaborations exist with the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology, Drug Discovery Center, Cell Biology and Neurobiology Department, Neuroscience Research Center and the recently announced joint-Biomedical Engineering Department with Marquette University. Collaborations also exist with the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) of Southeastern Wisconsin, a consortium of eight regional organizations whose mission is to advance the health of the community through research and discovery that is located on the MCW Milwaukee Campus.
School of Pharmacy faculty members are expected to develop, coordinate, and teach course content in an integrated doctor of pharmacy curriculum. Core responsibilities of this position include:
Collaboratively develop and deliver pharmaceutical sciences education in the doctor of pharmacy program.
Engage in other innovative teaching methods with an emphasis on interprofessional/interdisciplinary education that includes lectures, asynchronous content delivery, demonstrations, group activities, etc.
Participate in the scholarship of discovery, application, integration, and teaching, in areas appropriate to the faculty member’s areas of interest, which advances the mission of the School and MCW.
Collaborate with various MCW programs to mentor pharmacy, medical, and graduate students in research.
Contribute to service in the School, College, and the profession/discipline.
Provide mentoring and advising to students throughout the curriculum.
Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry or a related field. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong desire to contribute to the growth and development of the program in a progressive, thoughtful, and enthusiastic manner. In addition, candidates should have the ability to collaborate with faculty and academic leaders to sustain a culture attentive to interprofessional education, have demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and group communication skills, and be active in professional organizations. Candidates, with expertise in synthetic medicinal chemistry, who have research, grant writing and publication experience will be given priority. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
